Approximately 40 men gathered at Cherry Run Camp for the 2026 Men’s Retreat, held March 13–14, for a meaningful time of worship, fellowship, and spiritual encouragement. The retreat brought together men from various churches and communities who set aside time to grow deeper in their faith and strengthen their walk with Christ in the peaceful setting that Cherry Run Camp provides.

This year’s retreat featured Dr. Kent Olney as the guest speaker. Dr. Olney serves as the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Olivet Nazarene University and has spent decades in Christian higher education as a professor, administrator, and ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene. Earlier in his career, he served as both a pastor and university professor, and he has been involved in ministry, teaching, and scholarship for more than thirty years.
Throughout the retreat, Dr. Olney challenged and encouraged the men through the teaching of Scripture. Drawing from passages such as 1 Samuel 17, Genesis 39, and Jonah 1, he emphasized that a man is not defined by outward appearances or reputation, but by his character, courage, humility, and willingness to trust God. His messages encouraged the men to pursue integrity in both their private and public lives.

One session focused on Joseph in Genesis 39, highlighting how Joseph resisted temptation and chose to honor God even when far from home and facing pressure to compromise. Dr. Olney reminded the group that faithfulness in the unseen moments of life shapes the character that defines a person’s life and testimony.
Another message reflected on the story of Jonah, exploring how people sometimes respond to adversity with apathy, discouragement, or anger instead of obedience. Through these biblical examples, the men were encouraged to trust God’s direction even when circumstances are difficult or uncertain.

The retreat also featured music led by Luke Olney, Dr. Olney’s son, whose worship leadership helped create a meaningful atmosphere for reflection and praise throughout the weekend.
In addition to the teaching sessions, the retreat provided many opportunities for fellowship. Meals shared together, conversations around the camp, and times of prayer helped strengthen friendships and create meaningful connections among those in attendance. For many, the chance to step away from the busyness of daily life and focus on God’s Word was both refreshing and encouraging.

Events like the Men’s Retreat are made possible through the dedication of many people who serve behind the scenes. Cherry Run Camp would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kent Olney for faithfully sharing God’s Word, to Luke Olney for leading music, and to the volunteers, organizers, and kitchen staff who worked to make the weekend possible.
We are also grateful for the approximately 40 men who attended the retreat, bringing their fellowship, encouragement, and willingness to grow together in faith. Your participation helped make the weekend a meaningful and memorable experience for everyone involved.
Cherry Run Camp continues to be a place where people can gather to grow in their faith, build lasting friendships, and encounter God in a meaningful way. We are thankful for another encouraging Men’s Retreat and look forward with anticipation to what God will continue to do through this ministry in the years ahead.
